2010 Association of Alumni Executive Committee Candidates

Bradford Borden ’54
Petition Nominated Candidate for Executive Committee

Biography
Like many Cold War era graduates, Brad served in the U. S. Army after Dartmouth. His business career included success in the financial and real estate sectors. He was elected Treasurer of his class, served as alumni interviewer, and became President of the Dartmouth Club of Southeastern Connecticut. Brad’s daughter graduated from Dartmouth in 1982.

Statement
I adopt the statement of J. Michael Murphy and urge the election of our entire Dartmouth United slate.

Most of my business career has involved negotiation. Two sides, initially opposed, can work together toward a common understanding that meets everyone’s essential needs.

The ability to see both sides of an issue is a rare and valuable quality. So is persistence toward a goal. My colleagues tell me that I have these qualities; I intend to put them to work connecting alumni with President Jim Kim and the Dartmouth Trustees.

The 2007 decision to hamstring Dartmouth alumni must not stand. This has split alumni and dampened their spirits, at a time when Dartmouth needs their support more than ever.

We must bring disaffected alumni and the Dartmouth administration to the bargaining table. The Dartmouth United slate can be successful. No one will work harder.
